Us Weekly sat down and let Britney Spears’ mother spill her guts about the steps she’s currently taking to mend her relationship with her pop star daughter, since their falling out over Britney’s stay in rehab. In her interview, Lynne talked about her sadness that her daughter’s mistakes were being made in public and scrutinized the world over. And when Britney had her now famous meltdown, which included shaving off her hair and attacking the paparazzi with an umbrella (ellah, ellah, ellah, eh), she decided to make some drastic changes in her life.

“She decided that she had to cut out everyone who was using her, and that included her parents,” says a source of Spears, 26.

The estrangement was especially hard on the pop star’s mother.

“Lynne was like Britney’s best friend, so when Britney started partying and her mom tried to control her, she got mad,” a family source explains.

See, this is why I get annoyed with these show moms. If Britney needed another friend, I’m sure she could easily find one on MySpace. But finding a replacement for a mom who actually knows when to put her food down is a smidge more difficult. Dina Lohan, Lynne Spears and Kathy Hilton should open up a day-care center. You know, because it couldn’t be a worse idea.
