M·A·C Painterly: Paint Pot Eyeshadow.

They are here, in my hands, and I love them. M·A·C Painterly Pot Eye Shadows have such a wonderful texture, smoothing right over the eyelid. They never crease, and provide a beautiful wash of color. I even tried a few as eyeliners, and they work very well for that purpose too. Couple that with the […]

L’oreal Paris Offends Me

The makeup and beauty products giant is racially discriminatory. Starting in 2000 a campaign group hailing from France, SOS Racisme, launched a case against L’oreal Paris cosmetics firm. Empolyee after employee has stepped forward with their own personal experience with being asked to filter out anyone not suiting the “white standard.” One in women in particular was forced to lie to possible models that had a “foreign-sounding” name, telling them that the roster was full.

“In a landmark case, the Garnier division of the beauty empire, along with a recruitment agency it employed, were fined €30,000 (£20,300) each after they recruited women on the basis of race. The historic ruling - the first time a major company has been found guilty of systematic race discrimination in France - saw a senior figure at the agency given a three-month suspended prison sentence.”

Trouble started when the company placed an ad seeking “women (that) should be 18 to 22, size 38-42 (UK size 10-14) and “BBR”, the initials for bleu, blanc, rouge, the colours of the French flag.” While the Paris leg of the company is under scrutiny, no mention of the USA branch was made in the case. Personally, I too have seen several women of varying backgrounds in the American ads….all of them gorgeous.
