Although it’s hard to believe, October 2007 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the Sex Pistols iconic album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols.

Sadly, this was the first and last studio album the hugely influential band ever produced.

After all these years, They Might Be Giants is still making decent music and producing interesting videos. I’m impressed, too.

Bat for Lashes’ dreamy track “What’s a Girl to Do” is my favorite song today. It helps that director Dougal Wilson crafted an odd video to go along with the song.

The video for the Editors’ “An End has a Start” looks annoyingly similar to an American Apparel ad, but the song is so addictive, I try to overlook this sad fact.

Yes, “Pissed Jeans” might be the worst band name in the history of music, but the band deserves props for making proper punk at a time when radio keeps Avril Lavigne and Nickelback in constant rotation.

Although it’s hard to tell by viewing this video, the media accused the bat-swinging Swedish duo, The Tough Alliance, of glorifying violence and promoting “hooliganism.”

I think I could take both of these boys in a street fight, but whatever.

The girl from “Patty Lee” kind of reminds me of a SNL-lip-syncing Ashlee Simpson meets a “Canned Heat”-dancing Napoleon Dynamite.

“Blue Magic” is the first track off Jay-Z’s forthcoming concept disc American Gangster. Pharrell produced the song, and I think he might have been a bit heavy-handed; “Blue Magic” sounds more like a Pharrell track to me than a Jay-Z track. Regardless, I think we have a lot to look forward to.
