When former “American Idol” contestant Sanjaya (SANJAYA!) wanted to sing Janis Joplin’s “Mercedes Benz,” he found himself at an impasse.

The “American Idol” reject told Seattle’s KISS 106.1 that during American Idol’s country week he wanted to sing the Janis Joplin song “Mercedes Benz,” but wasn’t allowed to because “we’re sponsored by Ford.”

Well at least he got to throw the baby out with the “Bathwater.” Get it? Yeah, me neither. It makes no damn sense. Malakar also expressed a desire to return to his old life, in Federal Way, Washington. saying that what he missed most was:

“Being able to walk around the streets singing really, really loudly and not worrying about anyone one recognizing me or caring — or getting ripped on by Simon.”
