I started watching “Mad Men” on AMC when I was house-sitting for a friend of mine with cable and I have to say that it’s a pretty strong argument for me to seriously consider breaking down and just going ahead and reintroducing cable into my life. Although some of the first episodes were a bit slow, once I got into the intrigue of Donald Draper and the various subplots (and the outfits, of course) I was hooked. Here’s a sneak peek of episode nine, which will be airing on AMC Thursday night at 10 PM/9c, and the synopsis for which I found on the AMC website for the show.

A rival ad agency courts Don, involving Betty in their attempt to lure him from Sterling Cooper. As the presidential campaign heats up, the agency looks for new ways to counter the latest Kennedy ads. Tempers flare over Peggy.

For those of you keeping up with Bravo’s original series, “Flipping Out,” things are mad stressful (per usual) up in Valley Oak between Jeff and one of his employees, Chris, and it looks like the two of them are ready to kill each other. Jeff’s very upset–you can tell because he says, “This is very upsetting,” because his face, God bless it, is sort of incapable of frowning at this point. Check out this sneak peek of tonight’s episode above and you can see the whole dang thing tonight on Bravo at 10/9c.

AMC’s original series, “Mad Men” is airing a new episode tonight at 10PM/9c. In this sexy sneak preview of tonight’s episode, everyone is smoking, because the Marlboro Man was still alive and kicking. Glossy, sexy, this show makes me want to go out and invest in some Spanx, a new wardrobe of dresses and some fire-engine red lipstick.

I am happy to report that one of my favorite television shows currently on the air, “Flight of the Conchords,” has been picked up for a second season. Because of the wild success of the show as a result of its cult following (AKA me and hopefully you guys), it was no big surprise when HBO recently announced the pick-up. And I’d like to think that all of my promoting of the show on the site had a little something to do with the success of the show–mostly because I’m enjoying some delusions of grandeur. Jermaine and Bret, if you’re reading this, you’re welcome. Now, you can repay me with a very subtle thank-you in which you write a song for an episode on the show entitled, “Thank You, Lisa Timmons, Super-Fan.”

Because we’re hooked on the FX series, “Damages,” and its stars Glenn Close and Rose Byrne, it’s hard to resist constantly posting pictures and interview snippets here on ASL. It’s a compelling argument against those television snobs who argue that scripted television is losing the battle against trashy reality TV (which we happen to believe has a rightful place on the airwaves, but that’s a whole other post altogether…). Glenn Close recently described the relationship between her character, Patty Hewes, and Ellen Parson (played by Byrne) as “sexy.” In reaction, Byrne told the New York Daily News:

“In terms of the privilege and power that Patty represents, yeah, she’s probably very seductive to Ellen,” Byrne says. “To be honest, I hadn’t seen that in it. That lifestyle, the glamour, the otherworldly quality of it - it’s powerful stuff. It’s very easy to get swept up into someone else’s world like that.”

A few weeks ago, we brought to you a brief review of FX’s newest drama series, “Damages,” starring Glenn Close and just want to remind you that the series airs tonight at 10PM. The show focuses on the high-stakes world of litigation in New York City, with Glenn Close as the shrewd, manipulative and highly-successful lawyer, who takes a young protegee under her wings along her journey of winning her cases at any cost. Make sure to check it out. Next week, we’ll be sure to give you guys a review of episode two of the series, of which we’ve attained an advance copy.
