Isaiah Washington Says T.R. Knight Is Responsible for the Hostile Work Environment on “Grey’s”
Monday, June 25th, 2007
In an exclusive interview with Keith Boykin, Isaiah Washington said that now that he is no longer an employee of Disney, and consequently is no longer “gagged” from speaking about the issue in detail, he’s ready to tell his side of the story. When speaking with Boykin in a telephone interview, Washington revealed that up until now, he had been hesitant to speak out in depth on the subject out of loyalty to both “Grey’s Anatomy,” and the show’s producer, Shonda Rhimes. But now he says, that his ire is directed specifically at T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl. According to Washington, Knight manipulated both Patrick Dempsey and Washington into an argument by creating tension between the two co-stars and strategically “came out” in order to sway public opinion his way after the on-set fracas. Washington also says that Knight was neither on the set when the f-word was uttered, nor was it directed toward Knight.
“I know Patrick Dempsey has supported me by stating that if there is anyone that needs to be fired it is T.R. Knight because he has created such a negative environment on that set because he felt like he has not been treated and given the same leading man kinds of story lines that have been given to Patrick and Isaiah. He felt like his character was being treated very caricatureish and dopey and he wanted a change.”
