According to a federal compliant filed against the city by the U.S. Department of Justice – they’re not messing around – you, the average house fire victim, won’t have much opportunity to make that choice, since just 3 percent (335 of the city’s 11,000 firefighters) are black. As Stereohyped informed us, allegedly, this little statistic is a result of institutionalized racism among our city’s finest, which is accused of illegally using written tests to qualify entry-level applicants.
