Because of my passion for strange cinema (see “Even Dwarves Started Small”), I was extremely curious to hear that German director Werner Herzog had a new film out. And to hear that it starred the super-attractive, super-talented Christian Bale was…well, I think I might need a moment to recover. Basically, it’s a nerdy film-girl’s dream. In “Rescue Dawn,” Bale portrays an American fighter pilot, captured during the Vietnam War and placed in a prison camp in Laos. The film recounts the story of the pilot’s escape–the only escape successfully attempted by an American prisoner in the camp. According to Werner, when Christian signed on for the film, he seemed down for just about anything.

“My first question to Christian was, ‘Would you be prepared to bite a snake in two?’” the director revealed. “He immediately said, ‘Yes’.”

God, that’s so Bear Grylls of him. So…hot.
