Finally, a cause that actually MEANS something. There’s this gay bar in Laguna Beach called the Boom Boom Room, which has been around since your Nana was a fetus. It was purchased, and Clooney and Pitt were rumored to be investing in it so it wouldn’t be closed down. They denied this. Now that it’s actually going to get torn down to make some condos (friggin’ heteros), the club has taken out an ad in “Variety” begging Georgie and Brad to actually get involved.

The actors were rumored to have bought the vintage-1927 Coast Inn and its funky bar in the fall of 2005, along with airplane-leasing mogul Steve Udvar-Hazy, but representatives for the actors denied it. The property now is rumored to be for sale.

“Now we are appealing to both of you to buy our 60-year-old landmark before it is converted into a boutique hotel,” says the ad placed by activist Fred Karger and former Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Gentry.

In February, Karger present the City Council with nearly 6,000 signatures of people who support the preservation of the bar, an icon in the Southern California gay community.

The Boom Boom Room is billed as the oldest continuously operating gay bar in the United States, and keeping it would be preserving the history of the community, according to Karger said.

Supposedly Rock Hudson’s closeted ass hung out there. I’m all for hanging onto the past but can they at least get the pukey smell out? Why do gay bars all have that smell of vomit nowadays? is it just bad lube from the rest room? I realize passerbys might find anal sex between dudes reprehensible but please stop vomiting out front.
