The Brazilian supermodel recently spoke out on the Catholic Church’s stance on condoms, as well her belief that women should have the right to choose when it comes to abortion. A visit to Brasil by the Pope had him speaking very firmly about his opposition to the use of contraception, as well as a strong stance on abortion. He emphasized a rejection of sex outside of marriage. On the issue of abortion, Bundchen had this to say:

“If she thinks she doesn’t have the money or the emotional condition to raise a child, why should she give birth?”

And as for the Pope’s inability to condone the use of contraceptives:

“It’s ridiculous to ban contraceptives — you only have to think of the diseases that are transmitted without them. I think it should be compulsory to use a contraceptive.”

Now, maybe I’m just dizzy from all of the pre-marital sex I’ve been enjoying, but it’s kind of nice to hear a supermodel taking a stand on something slightly more controversial than hemlines.
