According to the latest reports from People magazine, the love affair between singers Jessica Simpson and John Mayer has come to an abrupt end. This comes only a few days after Jessica’s father, Joe Simpson, gushed over how much he liked his daughter’s latest beau.

Whether or not this latest separation will be long-lasting or not is still up in the air, with People’s source mentioning, “They have broken up, but they have broken up and gotten back together at least ten times before.”

Jessica, 26, is currently attending the Cannes Film Festival in France - hitting the red carpet and parties to push her latest big screen comedy “Major Movie Star” In the flick, Jessica plays an actress who enlists in the military.

Back in the States, Mayer, 29, has been busy giving presidential hopeful John Edwards advice on attracting young voters.
