This clip from the season finale of “My Life on the D-List” starring our favorite D-Lister, Kathy Griffin, has Kathy shopping with a stylist friend for an outfit for her upcoming date to some “rocker turned motivational speaker,” whom neither her stylist nor I had ever heard of. She’s feeling a bit disappointed that the gays don’t seem to know who the guy is, but decides to comfort herself with some shopping. However, her happiness is short-lived as she finds that the A-lister “discount” for which she aspires is out of reach, when she is told by the store clerk:

“Ain’t no discount, honey.”

Watching Kathy attempt to wrangle a discount from the unwavering clerk is a beautiful thing. It reminds me of my mother bartering at the various flea markets in Europe growing up, but Kathy manages to take it into unchartered territory by attempting to play the cancer card. Ooh, well-played.
