Michael Jackson: Memorabilia’s On The Block
If you’re a huge Michael Jackson fan, hopefully you’re reading this story from Las Vegas. The reason I say that, is that starting tomorrow (May 30th) Vegas will host the largest Jacko collection auction in history.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will be the setting for the landmark event. There was some legal red tape leading up to the sale, but the auction can now proceed after Jackson’s lawyers settled the case with the chief executive of Universal Express and proprietor of the objects, Richard Altomare. The involved parties came to the realization that Jackson had no claim to the items.
Along with the usual Jacko paraphernalia, there are reportedly some more personal things that the King of Pop may not want to see the light. There is speculation that the “personal things” include sex toys and photos of naked children. According to Altomare, “This is stuff we have kept from the auction out of respect to Mr. Jackson. The guy has troubles. We all have skeletons in the closet and, if Michael hadn’t put up a fuss, I might have quietly, discretely, just given it to him. I’m a Brooklyn kid and a gentleman . . . But if he p*sses me off, I may end up auctioning them.”
Some of the items up for auction include a Bill Whitten-designed militaristic red coat, a contract detailing Jackson’s $30 million purchase of a Californian ranch in 1987, now commonly known as “Neverland” and a telegram from Marlon Brando in 1984 giving Jackson a few encouraging words before a show.
To see the action and bid on your favorite piece of Jackson memoribilia, get on over to the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.
