Natalie Portman: Truman Show For Real?
With paparazzi swarming all over the celebrity scene trying to get exclusive coverage of Hollywood Stars, there is a new way of securing the spotlight. Just ask Natalie Portman. She may be accessible 24 hours a day if tech-savvy businessmen have their way.
According to Valleywag, Portman may be considering a project where she is constantly monitored. The report is based on a sighting of her with a prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist and a message posted to a Web site of one of his colleagues. That colleague later said she was joking, but that isn’t stopping other sites from speculating.
The concept of constant surveillance may be confusing to those who aren’t already under the scrutiny of the media. But as Toronto’s Globe and mail puts it, “If you’re Brittany or Lindsay or Paris, you either spend all of your time trying to get on TV or in the newspaper, or you find yourself hounded by photographers and video-cameras trying to put you there anyway. Why not take control of the process?”
CNet said that Portman “isn’t alone in looking for new online outlets.” It describes a project that includes Will Smith and Jessica Alba, and Valleywag noted a deal that teamed Will Ferrell with a venture capital firm to build Funny or Die, a YouTube-style site for comedy.
Brace yourselves - as this concept is sure to be quite amusing - if it actually happens.
In the meantime, enjoy the pictures of Natalie Portman!
