Fox Tries to Cancel “The O.J. Simpsons”
Fox is trying to shut down a webisode series, entitled "The O.J. Simpsons," which parodies their long-running animated series of almost the same name. Currently, the media conglomerate is strongly insisting that Broadcaster.com, the online video networking provider on which the Internet series is available, take the content offline. So far, there are three short episodes available for viewing online, "If I Did It," "Black and White Christmas" and "Warzone." Much like "The Simpsons," the Internet show pulls no punches in its satirical and sometimes downright silly look at what O.J. Simpson's life might be like if imagined as a cartoon series.
"We respect the rights of content owners," Broadcaster CEO Martin Wade III said. "We are examining all the issues raised by the Fox request. Our goal is to be a respecter of content rights and at the same time find legal ways to bring our community members the content they enjoy."Some could also argue that the show is outright offensive. You know, almost as offensive as coming thisclose to publishing a book of Simpson's entitled, "If I Did It," in which he "hypothetically" confesses to double-homicide. Yeah, Fox. I'm looking at you.
