Paris Hilton Rehires Mintz, Files Appeal

After a short-lived firing, Paris Hilton has made nice with the veteran publicist she dumped over the weekend - after faulting him for her imposing 45 day jail sentence.

“I represent Paris and I’m proud to,” Elliot Mintz told Reuters early on Tuesday after a night out with his client. “We had a wonderful evening, we talked, and our media relationship resumes uninterrupted.”

The 62-year-old publicist released a statement on Sunday, saying he no longer represented Hilton, 26, and he apologized for giving her incorrect legal advice.

Meanwhile, by late Monday, Mintz was back in Hilton’s good graces, although he declined to explain what had caused the turnaround.

“Whatever there was is no more,” said Mintz, adding, “I don’t choose to revisit that which is divisive. I’m only interested in that which is healing.”

Whether or not Paris will actually go to jail is still up in the air. In a final effort to save the hotel heiress from having to go to the slammer, Hilton’s attorneys filed a formal notice of appeal on Monday. Unless the appeal succeeds, she must report to the 2,200-inmate Century Regional Detention Facility south of downtown Los Angeles by June 5.

“She’s a very strong woman,” Mintz said. “Obviously, she’s taking all of this with great seriousness.”
