Every now and again, we decide to investigate the origin of an *exclusive* celebrity scoop! Today's example: ex-Laguna Beach "star" and current L.A. county jail regular Jason Wahler checks himself into rehab.

Sure, for whatever reason, it's all over the internets. But who was first with the dish?

National Enquirer hit first, delivering this full-page spread on Wednesday in this week's print issue.

Needless to say, however, People quickly followed suit, delivering their own ("Exclusive!") version of the Wahler sob story less than 24 hours later. And, as we all learned from Wednesday's arithmetic lesson, once a story runs in People, it's only a mere matter of time before Janice "Truthiness" Min gets her grubby hands on it, and hops onto the "Laguna Gone Wild" bandwagon with Us' own in-depth report.

So today's official Scoop Wars winner is: National Enquirer.

Though we'd be somewhat remiss in not pointing out that, when the scoop of the day involves a washed up, D-list former reality star, everybody loses. But cheer up, People. At least this time, People waited until the story was finished before putting it up on their site.
