Gretchen Wilson Gets Soft on Us

Well, soft for her, at least. In her autobiography, ""Redneck Woman: Stories from My Life," which came out last fall, she chronicled the often painful memories from her childhood, as well the trials and tribulations facing a single mother. Allowing the public this glimpse into the source of the pain that fuels Wilson's creativity, has probably allowed her the security to venture into more vulnerable territory on her latest album, "One of the Boys." "Heaven Help Me," an especially revealing song from the album shows a gentler Gretchen Wilson, one that she hopes her audience will embrace.
She says that song is particularly difficult to sing live, and a few you won't hear her perform at all: "I know I won't make it through without crying, and you cannot sing and cry at the same time. It's impossible."I'm not a huge country fan or anything, but I do love me some bad-ass ladies who don't put up with BS and Gretchen certainly fits into that category. Plus, I have a feeling after a few Jack and Cokes, she might convince me to do some Dixie Chicks tunes on karaoke. Unless she hates them, and I'm not in the know...whatevs. We can still hang.
