You Spin Me Round: The Sopranos Finale Soundtrack: An In-Depth Investigation (Kinda)

I assume we all watched the Sopranos season finale, so there’s no need to spoiler or pretend anything happened. If you don’t have cable or you live in a cave, I’ll short word the episode’s ending for you: Tony ate onion rings and Meadow can’t parallel park.
As a rabid Sopranos fan and a rabid music fan, I searched the soundtrack for some sort of symbolic meaning, but I came up with nothing significant. Tony’s love of classic rock prevailed, with a couple of interesting choices. HBO.com gave us the d-low.
- Tony wakes up; Dante drives Tony to his family; Phil fills up. (Vanilla Fudge: “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”)
- Tony and Paulie wait for Agent Harris at the airport. (Randy & the Rainbows: “Denise”)
- Bobby’s wake at Vesuvio’s. (Vivaldi: Four Seasons)
- AJ & Rhiannon listen to the song in the car. (Bob Dylan: “It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding) )
- Tony and Uncle Pat talk in backroom of The Bing. (Sonic Youth: “I Dreamed, I Dream”)
More of “The Sopranos” season finale soundtrack play-by-play, plus this week’s free MP3, after the jump.
